To a pessimist, losing bobby pins is as hopeless as losing hair.
To an optimist, losing hair gives hope to get the lost bobby pins back.

My hair was so much a part of my personality and all my photo shoots. I hid behind my hair. And then, I just decided I was okay with myself. To have short hair and really show my face is even more revealing than anything. It's a statement - not to everyone else, more to myself. I'm just ready to get out from behind my hair and be myself.

Does Trimming Your Hair Actually Make it Longer
Every girl desires to have hair as long as the Princess' in the Disney movies, but unfortunately, it is a very unrealistic for the majority of us. For the girls who can grow their hair to incredible lengths, they're usually struck with a ratted look that is taken over my split ends and frizzes. So, they finally have long hair but it looks gross. What's a girl to do?
The Theory
It is no secret that regular trims (approximately every 6 weeks) are mandatory to keeping your hair styled, but also healthy, full and lush. However, it is also believed that trimming your hair frequently encourages your hair to grow longer. It sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it? Let's find out the truth.
The Idea
The concept of trimming your hair to make it grow longer comes from the idea of healthy hair growing faster than damaged hair. Thus, trimming off the damaged ends is said to free up your hair and basically allow it to grow faster and ultimately, longer.
The Truth
Unfortunately, ladies, this theory has been debunked. Cutting off the ends of your hair frequently and more importantly, once damaged, is extremely vital to a flawless, luscious hair style. However, doing so doesn't affect the hair particles in your scalp so nothing really happens to 'encourage' your locks to grow longer. Cutting off damaged bits is said to make your hair appear longer because you no longer have the dry, frizzy split ends that can make your hair shrivel up and appear really coarse and rather messy.
The Alternative
The great thing is that there are some shampoos and conditioners that have shown results of making hair grow longer, such as Fast Shampoo and Conditioner. These are said to affect those scalp particles which determine how long or fast your hair will grow. You can also get on the trend of extensions and enjoy whatever length of hair you want, and if you get clip ins, you can change your hair from long to short and everything in between as you please which is great since your hair is a representation of how you feel about yourself.
Now, this doesn't mean that you can skip out on your next hair trimming appointment because it is crucial for your hair's health, but at least now you know that it isn't really going to do a magic spell on your hair and suddenly turn you into Rapunzel or the princess from Tangled. So, if you have short hair - rock it with confidence or grab some extensions. If you have longer hair with a ton of damaged ends, it's time to get to your hair dresses because prolonging your appointment isn't making your hair any longer; it's only making it more damaged.

Hair Colors to Dye for This Season
If you're eager for a change this fall season, you've come to the right place. Today, we are talking all about the trending hair colors for this incredible Autumn season which is here a little bit sooner than we all anticipated. At least this means that you can switch up your summer hairdo for a vibrant new fall-inspired tone sooner! Here are some dyes to try that will put you in the mood for bon fires, blankets, cuddles and movie nights.
Pale Golden Yellow
Think Kate Upton because she nails the hue that is hot to rock this fall season. Instead of opting for a platinum light blonde, or a red tinged strawberry blonde, you really want to strive for a creamy, golden blend of blondes! It's a little pale but still have a little something-something to make sure your hair is anything from boring.
Mixture of Lights
Grab your favorite light blonde box of dye, and your favorite box of light brown and combine the two. Okay, maybe you don't want to do that but a professional certainly could! A blend of light tones are super haute. It isn't ombre, nor is it highlights. Instead, this hair style is truly a good mixture of both tones. If you can't get the mixture right, you can blend it up for a honey blonde which is another hair color trend for this fall season.
Champagne Red
I had you at champagne, didn't I? Don't let the 'red' put the fear in you. Instead, let it put the fire in you for a classy nice out sipping on glasses of champagne because that's exactly the kind of aura you will repel off of you once you take on this new hair color. Instead of having a sassy, on-fire look of red, this style is a bit more elegant and soft.
Shining Gold and Red
If you want to get a little more blast with your box of hair dyes, a darker red that offers vibrant gold hues is definitely something that is one of the most popular looks to get this season. It is right on top with the fall hues in the trees, and offers a little more oomph and flavor to the previous. Think Amy Adams!
All Fallen Out
Now for the ladies of you who really need to put the fire out there. Cinnamon-copper red is smoking hot! You're a flame that no one wants to put out if this is the hair style that you're going for this season. Whew! Jessica Rabbit, anyone?
As you can see, dark, bold hues are out. Go light and breezy or add some personality and mood with red tinges. As a rule of thumb, always choose your hair color with your complexion and undertone considered.

Jill Scott
Yes, I'm blonde. When I started as an actor, because of the accent and my body and my personality, it was not what the stereotype of the Latina woman in Hollywood is, so they didn't know where to put me. The blond hair wasn't matching. The moment I put my hair dark, it was better for my work.
Sofia Vergara
You might find me outside with a can of hair spray, spraying it with the hope that the sun will burn a hole in the Earth. Another part of me hopes people will grow up and evolve and get smarter. That's the paradox of Marilyn Manson.

My Ojon Hair Experiment: SUCCESS!!!
I often like to visit the local beauty store and try out new products. While I tend to favor the more wallet friendly options, I thought to splurge a little bit and see whether the high-end hair care products are really worth the extra buck.
Test Brand: Ojon
Products: Volume
Advance Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, Volume Advance Thickening Spray,
and Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment
Volume Advance
Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner: Manufactured with volume-boosting
coconut and protein-rich Peruvian Amaranth, the shampoo works to remove dirt,
oil, and product build up that drags hair down. The conditioner is manufactured
with Peruvian amaranth, lemongrass extract, soy, and wheat protein to hydrate and
increase volume.
Volume Advance
Thickening Spray: Manufactured to help nourish, strengthen, and protect
against heat damage. Clinical trials proved that hair diameter was increased by
21% and that its strengthened hair against breakage by 97%.
Damage Reverse
Restorative Hair Treatment: A rich and velvety balm to words to hydrate,
repair, and restructure hair. Clinical trails saw a 64% improvement in the
condition of dry, damaged hair after the first treatment.
My Verdict: My
favorite for this purchase was the hair treatment. The treatment comes in a
solid form but once you warm the form between your hands, it becomes oil. I
left it on for 20 minutes and washed it out. Washing it out was a little
difficult, and even after 2 washes, I felt like my hair still had residue
leftover. I left it as is and found that my hair was super soft and no longer
coarse on the ends. Once my hair dried, I didn’t even notice the residue.
My second favorite was the shampoo and conditioner. My hair
typically is straight and fairly flat. However, when I let it air dry after
using the shampoo and conditioner, my hair had definite lift. While not
dramatic like a Brazilian blowout or blow drying, it still had body and
movement which was lovely. After the second wash, I had braided my hair and left
that in overnight. My waves the next day were absolutely gorgeous, tame, and
volumized.
My least favorite was the thickening spray. I feel it didn’t
do much, however the heat protection was nice (although I didn’t need it).
Conclusion:
Splurge on the hair treatment for sure. Definitely worth $20. For the shampoo
and conditioner it’s nice, but I’m not sure if I’d be willing to spend another
$40 for two new bottles. And I’ll most likely be returning the thickening
spray.
Have you used Ojon products before? What’s your favorite?

Does Blonde Hair Really Turn Green in Chlorine?
You may have seen it before, and unfortunately, you may have also experienced it for yourself. It's the struggle of summer for blondes, natural and dyed. Although, dyed blonde hair does tend to pick up the green tinge more than natural blondes because it is more porous. That's also not to mention that it isn't guaranteed that your hair will get a green hue but it is definitely possible. Chlorine is blue, blonde hair is yellow and when you add blue and yellow, you get green.
It Isn't Just a Blonde Thing
Believe it or not but the chlorine isn't what actually turns blonde hair green - and it can also happen to all shades of hair. The truth is that there is copper oxide and copper sulfate in the water which can turn all hair colors. It just so happens that for blondes it is much easier to see because of their lighter hair. However, brunettes can experience an orange or brassy hue as well. In addition to the exposure to such metals, the summer time also brings tons of direct sunlight, heat, wind and products that can be just as damaging to your hair - and not so visible.
How to Remove the Green
Whether you have natural or dyed blonde hair, or are a brunette who now has orange hair, there is no need to panic because there is a cure. All you have to do is use a "chlorine" removal treatment which ultimately gets those metals out of your hair, taking away that green tone.
Future Prevention
Wearing a swimmer's cap probably isn't your favorite option, so instead, tie your hair up prior to going in the pool and keep it dry as much as you can. If you will be swimming underwater, soak your hair with fresh water prior to getting into the pool so that it won't soak up so much of the chlorinated water. Braiding your hair also helps deter water absorption, and if you swim in chlorinated pools often, use a daily treatment that will coat your hair in effort of protecting it. You also always want to rinse your hair with fresh water as soon as you exit the pool - for obvious reasons.
Just be cautious when using stripping shampoos because not only will it strip your hair of chlorine and the chemicals in pool, but it will also strip it of the natural oils and nutrients that are imperative to healthy looking locks. So always proceed with caution and replenish your hair accordingly.Natural oils are an excellent way to do just that, and always give yourself a deep hair repair therapy session each week. You can do this at home or treat yourself at the spa!

Wedding Tips Every Bride Should Know BEFORE The Wedding
Even months after the wedding, we are still receiving
compliments on how fantastic, fun, and loving our wedding was. And while this
is how every bride hopes their day will be, unfortunately, the day’s normal
stress results in a less than magical day. So from one experienced and very
happy bride to all future and current brides, I would love to share some
wedding tips that, I believe, every bride should know to truly enjoy this day.
Don’t Sweat The Small
Stuff
There are so many things that could go wrong on this day. Is
the florist running late? Is your dress not fitting right? Did the videographer
show up half hung over, his tie backwards, and is currently laying his head
down on the dining table?
And yes….this all
happened to me! So what
did I do?
I hugged my anxious and worried grandmother-in-law and told
her it would be ok. If the flowers don’t make it, it’s not going to ruin the
wedding. Yes…the reception and wedding won’t be decorated, but even though the
flowers add to the wedding, they aren’t
the important elements of it. And I continued my day….
When my dress wasn’t zipping up correctly, we took this as a
photo opp to get some hilarious photos of me trying to hold in my chest while
my maid of honor and mom tried to zip me up. And I continued my day….
And when the videographer showed up half hung over, with his
tie on backgrounds, and barely paying attention to us? I laughed and talked with
my bridesmaid, ate dainty sandwiches, and...continued getting ready for my
wedding day.
Focus On The
Important Things
This includes your future hubby, your wedding party, and the
loving friends and family that are there to celebrate this day with you. Before
the wedding, I received so many tips
that I should enjoy my day….which sounded odd to me because why wouldn’t I?
They continued to remind me, enjoy your
day…because it will go by so fast! But I still didn’t get it.
And then I learned what they were talking about…and the
mistake they made during their wedding. While many people spend their wedding
day worrying that everything has to be exactly as planned, or exactly right, I
approached my wedding as a day to celebrate, make joy, and create memories. So
each moment, each smile, each hug, each dance….I lived in it. I didn’t worry
about what was going to happen next. I lived in each and every moment.
Smile From The Heart...Laugh From Your Gut
One thing that I absolutely loved about my wedding was that we were always laughing and smiling. The sound of our laughter would constantly resonate throughout the rooms, wherever we were, whatever we were doing. We took nothing too serious and found the humor and fun in every situation. When the pastor asked my husband to obey his wife, he looked to our guest and gave them a befuddled look. After I smooshed cake all over his face and he retaliated with an equally well placed cake smash, I jumped into his arms for a kiss to further smooth our cake face mess together. Every moment during this day should be filled with smiles that come from the heart and laughter that came from your gut.
And that, dear brides, is what allowed me to differ from the
advice constantly thrown my way and to both enjoy each and every moment,
without making the day feel stressed, frantic, and too fast.

Hair Chalks - Pros and Cons
One of the latest hair trends that is taking over the industry is hair chalks. Basically, they're like bingo dabbers that us kids from the 90s used to put in our hair to enjoy a splash of temporary color. Yes, temporary. This is key to the entire trend which makes it fabulous for everyone who is in need of a little revamping without the commitment. An ideal situation is to throw some pink into your hair for a night out at the club, and wash it out the next morning to stay within your office's appearance guidelines, or you can even stick to natural tones and try out a new streaked look, or indulge in the ombre trend. Let's look into the pros and cons a bit more to see if hair chalks are a thing we should be indulging in.
PRO: You can truly try out any new hair color, or dye job first before committing to a new color and then regretting it later. For anyone who has ever had a bad dye job, you'll love this benefit.
CON: If you're going for a new streaked look, ombre appearance or another difficult dye job hairstyle, you really have to practice because these aren't ordinary dye jobs that can easy be achieved. There is a lot of separation, sectioning, and attention that needs to be put into it.
PRO: On the contrary, it is washable, so if you mess up - wash and redo! It also gives you a great opportunity to have some fun with your girlfriends before heading out for the evening.
CON: It's another obsession that you will totally fall in love with and require it to be added into your daily get-ready routine. As if you don't already spend enough time hogging the bathrooms in the morning, right?
PRO: Everyone can enjoy this fun activity. As mentioned, kids can play around with spunky, vibrant tones, just as teens can. It might also help you parents out there keep your children from making a drastic, permanent change to their look. Adults can also indulge in some chic color, or play around with natural tones to spice up their current look.
CON: Hair chalks can be really messy and if you don't opt for a high quality brand, you might be risking putting damage on your clothing which is a super fashion faux pas.
PRO: Minimal damage is actually done to your hair. Hair dyes are chemically packed, and it seems that these temporary color options are less painful for your strands.
CON: It can take quite some time for it to actually get to the tone that you want. The darker your hair, the harder you typically have it.
PRO: With that said, it does still work on super dark hair which is excellent!
So, as you can see, there are many pros and cons to using hair chalks but it seems like the pros are certainly outweighing the cons.

Reviews About GlamGlow's Instant Camera Ready Skin Kit:
Best Face Mask: "I love how soft and smooth this make my skin! It makes putting on makeup so much smoother! I noticed my acne has decreased and I don't have to deal with too much oil on my face. I will buy this again and would totally recommend it to a friend with skin that is way too oily. The only downfall is the price, but it's worth it." -LizDevon | Sephora
Worth the money!: "I purchased this as an impulse buy, but I am so glad I did! After the very first use my skin was softer, pours were smaller, and my complexion was better. It does tingle pretty intensely at first, but I like that, I can tell it's doing something. Also, the mask tightens as it dries, which I also like. I love this product and will definitely be purchasing again." -Gabrielle22 | Sephora Beuaty Insider
New "Must Have": "I came across this stuff threw a TON of youtube beaty gurus and friends who swear by these masks. Before I checked out I had 3 girls in the store tell me it was an amzing buy and told me id love it. I purchased many items that day as well so I didn't look at the price until I got home and pulled my receipt out the bag. Not going to lie it waassss a little pricey but I used it the same night I got it and needless to say I will be repurchasing when I finish this pot. I have super sensitive skin and I was amazed that I wasn't red and itchy when I took it off. Its super refreshing and as silly as it sounds my skin was sooo silky soft and radiant. Going back today for the hydrating version! Sooo pleased with this product." - Paigeyb | Sephora VIB

Getting Some Hair-spiration
You can never have too much girly inspiration for a good hair day. I have hand selected the best quotes that pertain to hair and beauty that will keep you encouraged and beautiful! So without further ado, here are the best one-liners, sentences and paragraphs that will fit to every glam mood that you experience.
If you look over the years, the styles have changed - the clothes, the hair, the production, the approach to the songs. The icing to the cake has changed flavors. But if you really look at the cake itself, it's really the same.
John Oates
I think every girl needs to love herself, regardless of anything. Like if you're having a bad day, if you don't like your hair, if you don't have the best family situation, whatever, you have to love yourself and you can't do anything until you love yourself first.
Julianne Hough
Gorgeous hair is the best revenge.
Ivana Trump
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair.
Audrey Hepburn
I love the feeling of the fresh air on my face and the wind blowing through my hair.
Evel Knievel
Beauty is about perception, not about make-up. I think the beginning of all beauty is knowing and liking oneself. You can't put on make-up, or dress yourself, or do you hair with any sort of fun or joy if you're doing it from a position of correction.
Kevyn Aucoin
I just kind of opened up and said, 'I feel like a rag doll. I have hair and makeup people coming to my house every day and putting me in new, uncomfortable, weird dresses and expensive shoes, and I just shut down and raise my arms up for them to get the dress on, and pout my lips when they need to put the lipstick on.'
Jennifer Lawrence
I have my team. Like if you see everyone around me - I have my hair and makeup girl, my assistant. They're very calm, they're all about positive energy. There're no drama queens. Everyone wants everyone else to have a positive experience. There are no agendas. I think it creates a healthy environment and there are no boundaries to cross.
Fergie
Anyone can be confident with a full head of hair. But a confident bald man - there's your diamond in the rough.
Larry David
I'm undaunted in my quest to amuse myself by constantly changing my hair.
Hillary Clinton
A simple compliment goes a really long way - for a guy to just come over and say, 'You have great hair' or 'I really like your dress,' and then just smile and walk away. That's a great move, because he's sort of putting himself out there by doing that, but it won't lead to any embarrassment if the girl isn't interested.
Stacy Keibler
Have a great week, ladies!

Beauty is about perception, not about make-up. I think the beginning of all beauty is knowing and liking oneself. You can't put on make-up, or dress yourself, or do you hair with any sort of fun or joy if you're doing it from a position of correction.

Trends
may come and go but that doesn't mean you can't totally enjoy the fun styles in
the meantime! Last time we introduced Rose Gold Hair – a style that proved to be a hit. Looking for something new? The
current hairstyle that’s trending: dip dyed hair.
Add
a subtle dash or eye-catching chunk of color to your tresses! Celebrities and
civilians are trying this fun and creative look when they feel like adding
something different to their hair
without needing the commitment of a damaging and full dye job. Want to give it
a try? Read on below:
Dip Dyed Hair: Clip In | Temporary
| Semi Pricey but Safe
If
you’re looking for a totally temporary style, think about clip-in hair
extensions. While pricey, these will allow you to try the additional color
without any damaging effects to your hair.
Dip Dyed Hair: DIY Kool Aid
| Temporary | Super Simple and Safe
If
you’re looking for a way to see how dip dye will look on your hair, use Kool
Aid. Kool Aid provides a temporary but simply way to add a touch of color. And
it’s fun and yummy J Just make sure you don’t drink the kool aid that
you dipped your hair in – or maybe if that floats your boat, go for it haha!
How to:
- Pick you color of choice from the selection of Kool Aid: Cherry, Grape,
Lemon, Orange, Root Beer, Strawberry, Black Cherry, Tropical Punch, Pink
Lemonade, Watermelon, and so much more! They
have a ton of flavors, especially if you factor in global flavors such as
Purplesaurus Rex, Sharkleberry Fin, Solar Strawberry Starfruit, and
Man-o-Mangoberry. How fun! Your choices are limitless.
- With your color of choice, pour 3-4 packets and 1 ½ cup of water into a
pot.
- Bring to a boil and let boil for 4 minutes
- Pour into a bowl
- Take a strip of hair and dip it in the bowl for 6 minutes
Dip Dyed Hair: DIY |
Semi-Permanent
If
you’re looking to dip dye your hair with semi-permanent color, I would at first
caution you against it as dip dying a semi-permanent color requires stripping
your hair of its natural color via bleach. Because of the tricky nature of this
job and the use of bleach, I would highly recommend against this option.
However, if you’re feeling brave, read on: How to:
- Cover yourself with a towel and put on gloves.
- Mix the bleach according to the pre-lighter hair dye and apply to the
tips of your hair that you want to add a dip dye effect to.
- Bag your hair and let stand for 40-45 minutes.
- Rinse and shampoo lightly.
- Apply the color dye and wrap in foil. Let stand for 10-20 minutes and
lightly blow dry.
Dip Dyed Hair:
Professional
For
trendy styles like this, we highly advise hiring a professional stylist. While
the local stylist that only charges $20 for the dip dye job may do a good job, do you want to chance
it? I would spend the extra money for a job well done. Make sure to do some research
about quality salons and request their best hair colorist.
What do you think? Is the dip dyed hair a do or don’t?
