Hunger Games: Catching A Little Fashion Fire

With the second movie due soon in theaters, you'll find that The Hunger Games fever is hitting another all time high. And I'll be part of the screaming fans. This is probably one of my favorite YA series today.

In love with this series?

Here's a little fun fact for Hunger Game fans: Trish Summerville, the film series' costume designer, will be launching a clothing line inspired by The Hunger Games! And yes, while the series is YA, the clothing is catering to the more luxurious and grown-up audience.

The clothing line, titled "Capital Couture" will be a 16-piece luxury collection and will be exclusively available on Net-a-Porter. Expect the line to launch "in time for the film's worldwide release on November 22", although this is a loose date.

So at this moment, while this fashion line isn't available now, do you find yourself wondering how you can tame your Hunger Games fever in the mean time? Here are some fun fashion favorites of mine influenced by The Hunger Games: CoverGirl's Capitol Beauty Studio.

*Note: I am in no way affiliated with CoverGirl nor am I an employee. I just love the series and was very excited to see that CoverGirl was catching the fever too!

How to Properly Clean Your Hair Brush

So this post may seem extremely obvious to some people, but there is a large amount of people who simply do not know how to clean their hair brush. It sounds crazy, we know. However, it is absolutely crucial to know and practice the proper way to clean your hair brush to ensure that the condition of your hair is at its best possible health. Since your hair brush meets your locks every day, on more than one occasion, this should be the first place you place emphasis on when caring for your hair. There are one too many times that I have walked into my friend's bathroom, only to see a brush full of hair that probably hasn't been cleaned lately, let alone ever. Now, ladies it is crucial to remember that pulling the hair out of the bristles does not make your hair brush clean. Here are some tips that will completely change

Step one: The first thing that you have to do is remove the hair from the brush. There are tools that you can purchase to do the job, or you can use a pen and slide it underneath the hair, in between the brush. Once you have woven it through the two, you can lift the pen up which will also remove the hair from the bristles, allowing you to grab and remove it. You can also use scissors to cut down the middle of the hair glob if you are worried about damaging your brush, or the hair tangle is a complete disaster and needs to be cut through. Yuk! It does happens though, so evaluate your specific situation.

Step Two: Once the hair is removed, it is time to actually clean the brush. As long as you have some shampoo, you will have no problem with the cleaning part. Fill your sink up with warm water and add approximately a tablespoon of cleansing shampoo. Yes... There are some shampoos that don't thoroughly cleanse, so look for one that emphasizes this feature. Place the brush in the shampoo water and start to brush it thoroughly. It is not recommended to let it sit in the water and then rinse, as film can be gathered and its not thoroughly cleaning the brush anyway. Once you have gotten each inch of your brush and every bristle, rinse thoroughly. You do not want to let the shampoo build in your brush and then go into your hair. Then, let it air dry.

It is recommended that you clean your brush at least once or twice a week, and again, that doesn't mean simply pulling the hair out of the brush. It is not clean until you follow these steps. It takes only a couple of minutes and will enhance the appearance, texture and health of your locks. It is worth the little amount of time that you have to spend. Trust a girl who knows what she's talking about.
It is two steps... You can't go wrong.

Slimming Girdles

Hi ladies, I hope you are all enjoying the fact that it's Friday. Who doesn't love the weekend right? Anyways, today I would like to discuss girdles. Girdles are undergarments that aid the body into looking slim. What woman wouldn't want that, right? Anyways, there are different types of girdles out there, let's take a look at the different ones.

Dress Girdles:  Alright, do you ever think, "Oh I would love to wear a tight fitting dress, but my love handles and extra fat would show?" Do not worry. There are especial girdles just for this! They come in the shape of a dress. This means that they will hug you right from all the right places, so you can do whatever without having to worry on whether your fat will show if you sit this way or that way.

Short Girdles:  Sometimes, women have more fat around the bottom part of their abdomen, thighs, or bum. There is no need to worry or feel ashamed about this. We all have things we don’t like, and there are many ways to work on them. For starts, one can use a short girdle that will slim down the thighs, bum, and legs.

Full Suit Girdles: Wowzer! Yes, there is such thing as full body girdles. This means that it will slim down, bum, things, stomach, love handles, and legs, and as a bonus, these suits make the girls look great. Once again, these suits can be worn with anything. Although, I got to be honest, they are like jumpsuits in where you would have to take everything off to go to the bathroom. So, they can be inconvenient.

Positive Outcomes of the Girdles: Alright, first of, let me state that anyone can rock anything, but if you happen to be self-conscious about your body, do something about it. There is no shame in wearing a girdle. In fact, I believe that girdles also help you keep back posture, so that’s always a bonus in preventing one from slouching.

Alright, that brings me to the end of today’s blog. I hope you all have a wonderful and fun-filled weekend; Until next time.

360 Degree Fall Skin Care Part 2: The Oily

When it comes to any changing season, our skin definitely undergoes a chemical change. The solution however is not the same for everyone, even for those with similar skin conditions. Hopefully my tips and tricks below will help keep the changing season blues away.

The Season: Fall. Some may experience dryness, others may experience (during summer) an over abundance of oil production, and some may find the oil spots are dry and the dry spots are now oily. For Part 2 of 360 Degree Fall Skin Care, we are going to focus on those experiencing oiliness.

Non-Comodegenic Always: When skin overproduces oil, people have a tendency to skip the moisturizer, afraid that the extra moisture will only increase the oil feeling. If you have oily skin, choose a moisturizer that is non-comodegenic. Non-comodegenis allows a moisturizer to nourish your skin without blocking your pores, causing your skin to overproduce oil. Also choose non-comodegenic makeup that you wear, such as foundation.

Mildly Exfoliate: When breakouts happen due to oiliness, some turn to exfoliating to unclog of blocked pores. However, those who overdo exfoliation and have oily skin, may trigger the skin's need to produce more oils than normal. Try a mild exfoliator such as an exfoliating cleanser. Philosophy's Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash is a mild, exfoliating facial cleanser designed to cleanse the skin while providing resurfacing benefits.

Oil-Free Makeup: Always opt for oil-free makeup. Always always always! This will help keep your pores from getting clogged and will still allow you to wear your foundation without feeling like an oil slick.

Try Au-Natural: Thank you Jennifer Lawrence for shifting the beauty scene to natural beauty! Less makeup means less clogged pores! Try for defined eyebrows, shimmer on the cheekbones, and a lip stain. You'll look dewy, fresh, and beautiful. Feel like you need something more? Like Jennifer Lawrence's Dior ad, dust on a neutral brown along your lids and apply some mascara. Again, natural beauty is in. Plus it's cheaper on the wallet!

Keep your skin healthy and hydrated! Happy Fall!

Get Rid of the Burnt Hair Smell

There is only one thing worse than burnt hair, and that is the smell of it. I was recently in the shower when I got a whiff of my hair and was completely disgusted. It smelled burnt. Although it didn't necessarily look burnt, it definitely had some fry to it that was delightful. This had me wondering how to get rid of the burnt smell on hair. It also made me become extremely self conscious about the way that my hair smelled after I used a hair iron on it. Thus, this article was created. Start taking a whiff of your hair and get rid of that awful stench!

Use Scented Serum
This definitely won't get rid of the problem, but it will certainly hide it. Once you have completed your hair styling, use some delicious smelling product such as hair serum. This will not only help hold the style and get rid of any frizzes that may be a result of the burnt hair, but it will hide the smell... Until next time, of course. Natural oils are amazing to use as they will help repair your hair at the same time as deterring the horrendous smell of burnt hair.

Lower the Heat
It is usually automatic for us to increase the hair iron temperature to as hot as it can be. However, your hair can most likely be straightened or curled at a lower heat. For example, instead of 420, try a heat at 350. This small adjustment could save you from the burnt hair smell.

Use Protectant
Your hair likely smells like burnt hair because it is burnt! Using a heat protecting product to deter the burn to your hair. You should be using a heat protecting product anyway, as hair irons are simply awful for your hair and this product will slow down the damage that is inevitable to happen.

Solve the Problem
The best thing that you can do is a repair hair therapy treatment. Give your hair a break and stop applying heat products to your locks. You would need to stop using them for a significant amount of time in order for your damaged hair to grow out, but if possible, completely cut heat products out of your hair for as long as you can. If this isn't a viable option for you, and as a hair girl myself, I don't blame you, try to decrease your use of hair irons and heat products. Let your hair air dry when possible, and skip out on straightening your hair when you don't need to go anywhere.

It may be time to smell your hair before you go out to ensure that you don't smell yucky out in public. It's definitely something that I do now. I wouldn't dare step outside the house smelling like burnt hair again, and the worst thing is, you can't really smell it until you put your nose to it, but everyone else can smell it from afar.

How to :Rock Red Carpet Looks

Hello ladies, I hope you all had a wonderful week, but may the weekend be even better. In today's blog I want to talk about red carpet looks, and how you too can rock such looks! Let's take note on some of the things one must do.

Key fact: Okay, who ever said that only starts can achieve red carpet looks? Wrong! Anyone can achieve such a look; anyone can be unique and owe their personal style. However, ladies, the key to rocking anything you wear is confidence. My motto is, "if you like it, you'll own it."
Nothing is better than confidence when it comes to fashion.

When to Rock such Looks: Many times, people think, there is never an event in where I can go all out and dress up, it will be too much for the event. But ladies, let me ask you. How many times a year does a women ever get to dress up? Think about it for a second. See, it doesn't happen very often, so why not go all out for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries? Ladies, often times we don't take advantage of these events to dress up and be girly. We are all to use to being comfortable in our pants and shirts.

The outfit: Well, what could you wear? Truthfully, you can wear anything! We've all seen starts rocking some funky outfits, you can too. Go for the funky short dress from the front and long from the back. Wear a address that shows a lot of back or a lot of front; whatever you feel comfortable with. Ladies, set not limits to how you can dress up. It is too often that care too much about others opinions, when the only opinion that should matter is your own, and your boyfriend’s or Husband of course.

Okay ladies, there you have today's blog. I hope you find inspiration within in it. Remember it's always good to have a day in where you feel like a princess, who ever said that the only day in where you feel like princess is on your wedding day? Geez. Dress it up ladies. Have a wonderful weekend.

Ladies, how many times have you turned to catch a glimpse of the man that just walked past you smelling of delicious cologne? Probably countless times, right? Well guess what! It's the exact same thing for men with women. When they smell a beautiful rose scent on a woman, their senses immediately spark their inner desire for that particular person and smell. The basics to laws of attraction is an automatic and a magnetic connection between two people by similarities such as thoughts, touch and well.. Smell, of course! One of the easiest ways to bring on that immediate spark of attraction is most certainly done by captivating a man's sense of smell by wearing a feminine, daring and desirable scent that can be provided from your hair care products. So ladies, before you go out dancing in the city with your closest girlfriends hoping to meet the one, guess what you need to do?

If you guessed that you must start sniffing the bottles of your shampoo and conditioner, styling products and more, you are half right. You want to make sure that the scents of all your products aren't working against one another, creating an overbearing or worse, undesirable aroma around you. Something to remember when using the scents of products to attract a man is that the smell of a rose flower is the ultimate scent that will have the men flocking around you, desiring and wanting more. Laws of attraction is all about captivating one naturally and a man's sense of smell is so sensitive. Although people often say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, the laws of attractions show that utilizing a man's sense of smell works just as well. After all, you have to get them first in order to cook for them, right? So why not start with the perfect product scent to captivate them? Not only will wearing the pure scent of deliciousness have their senses craving, but it will let them know, feel and smell your fierce, feminine and daring self. When a man smells particular scents, the laws of attractions kick in and they get a feel for that woman and her personality simply by the scent that she's wearing. Let your product choice to let the men around you get a feel of who you are and whether you're flirty and fun, or fierce and frisky.

Soft and Kissable Lips

Happy Friday Ladies, I hope you all had a stupendous week. I’m super excited for the weekend. It’s Canadian Thanksgiving, which means most of us get an extra day of rest, asides from eating good food! Anyways, what I really want to talk about to is how to make your lips look luscious, and feel great. Let’s take a further look.

Moisturize: Okay First thing is first, you never ever want to apply lipstick on dry lips, it’s not pretty, and it looks, to be honest, a little gross. So ladies always moisturize, especially now that the cold months are before us.

Purchasing Product: So what it next? Well selecting a brand of lipstick. When you purchase a lipstick you want it to be long lasting, and none sticky!!! I hate sticky lipstick, and believe me your boyfriend or husband won’t like it either. So, what do I suggest? Stick to what you know, or consult with a person that works there, and ask him or her about the product. In fact ask if you can sample the lipstick. Wear it for a while and then decide, was it stick, and long lasting? If it was not sticky and it lasted a long time, got back to the store and buy it.

Liner: Okay, here is another idea you can try out. Use lip liner as lipstick. This is convenient for women who want to find a particular color but can only find it in the liner. On the other hand, believe it or not, there are women that actually prefer to use liner because they like the texture of it better. I don’t know if it’s happened to any of you, but sometimes lipsticks cause the lips to peel, and it doesn’t look good. Furthermore, some women believe they can achieve a great matte lip by painting their entire lip with the liner.

Lipstick Remover: Alright, there has been all this talk about long lasting lipstick, but what if you don’t want a lipstick to last 24 hours? What if you want to change lip color? I had wondered the same thing, until someone told me that I could use Vaseline! Oh the wonder of Vaseline ( I should do a blog about that ), anyways all you need to do is apply some Vaseline to your lips, make sure you put on a reasonable amount, leave it on for a little while, and then remove your lipstick with a cotton pad. In adding Vaseline, you’re also moisturizing your lips, so this is a good thing to do.

Okay friends. That is all I have for you today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and to all our Canadian readers, have a wonderful thanksgiving. Enjoy turkey eating, nom nom nom nom.

360 Degree Fall Skin Care Part 1: The Dry

When it comes to any changing season, our skin definitely undergoes a chemical change. The solution however is not the same for everyone, even for those with similar skin conditions. Hopefully my tips and tricks below will help keep the changing season blues away.

The Season: Fall. Some may experience dryness, others may experience (like summer) an over abundance of oil production, and some may find the oil spots are dry and the dry spots are now oily. For Part 1 of 360 Degree Fall Skin Care, we are going to focus on those experience dryness or an increased dryness.

For The Dry SkinThose who normally have dry skin may find that with the Fall season, your skin becomes more dry (don't even ask about winter!!!). There are a few things you can integrate into your skin care regiment that will assist with your drying skin.

Try a hydrating mask: A hydrating mask will help give that dry skin a rejuvenated boost. The misconception is that a mask will dry your skin out more. However, like any other skin care product, there are multiple purposes to what the product is used for. While there are masks that help with acne, cleansing, refinement or tightening, there is also a mask for hydration!

No budget solution: Try the Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask ($88). This hydrating treatment reveals softer, firmer, healthier looking skin. Containing advanced antioxidants like Kombucha (black tea ferment) helps to defend against wrinkle-causing free radicals while softening, smoothing, and enhancing luster.

Middle of the road budget solution: Try the Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial ($45). This is a weightless facial powered by super-charged proteins that melt into skin and works overnight for intense, immediate moisturization. Greek Yoghurt provides a natural source of proteins, minerals and vitamins to instantly nourish stressed, dry skin.

Budget friendly solution: Try Origins Drink Up 10 Minute Mask to Quench Skin's Thirst ($24). No, this isn't super cheap, however it is on the lower end of the price spectrum but still effective. This thirst quenching mask contains algae extracts to deliver an extra helping of hydration while emollient-rich apricot kernel oil acts like a fountain of youth.

Try an oil: Applying an oil to your face? Sounds pretty scary. Isn't it oil that causes acne? Why yes, but there are oils out there that work to boost skin health. Mix a few drops of one of the following oils into your moisturizer and apply.

For any budget: Any face oil will last a very long time since a little goes a long way. So here are a few options that you can select from:
Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil ($14-$96). This is a lightweight oil that can be used as a daily moisturizer for treatment for your skin, hair and nails. Very rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids that easily absorbs into skin to give a youthful, dewy glow and has astonishing healing, conditioning, and anti-aging properties.

Origins Plantscription Youth-Renewing Face Oil ($49.50) is a face oil that absorbs on-contact to help repair skin's barrier and replace vital youth-renewing lipids lost with age.

Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil ($46) quickly absorbs for firmer, brighter, smoother skin. Very rich in Vitamin C, skin appears instantly brighter and more radiant.

Boost your skin with a rich nighttime moisturizer: Add a little extra with a rich nighttime moisturizer. Especially for those who are experiencing dry skin, the moisture boost at night will help keep your skin glowing and hydrated during the day.

No budget solution: Algenist Overnight Restorative Cream ($90) is a rich moisturizing cream that renews and repairs the skin overnight. This cream supports natural cell renewal to improve skin structure during the night. The peptides nourish the skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles as firmness and elasticity are restored.

Middle of the road budget solution: Clinique Repairwear Intensive Night Cream Very Dry Skin Formula ($52) is developed especially for very dry skin that works all night to help block and mend the look of lines and wrinkles, arming your skin for tomorrow.

Budget friendly solution: Though not super cheap, this product works really well. Try Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream ($39.50). A night time cream that is known to have you wake up radiant and refreshed. Containing minerals, moisture-rich replenishers, and vitamins C, E, and H.
