Happy Friday
ladies, and let the weekend begin! I’m hoping you all had a good work/school
week. In this blog we will be discussing the importance of iron, especially for
women, since we tend to loose blood monthly. Iron deficiency (anemia) makes people
tired, and I mean, much more tired than usual. This is, as you probably guess
problematic. Feeling weak and fatigued doesn’t sound at all pleasing. So, how
are we supposed to obtain iron? Well, let’s take a further look.
Pills: If you don’t like your veggies, you can get over the counter iron pills.
This may be the ultimate route even for people who do eat their veggies. The
reason for this is because you can take them with other morning supplements. If
you are the type of person who always forgets to take your pills, do not worry;
instead set a daily alarm for when to take them. Trust me, it will work out, I
do it myself every time I want to remember something.
Fruits and Veggies: A lot of people think that iron can just be found in veggies, but that
not the case. There are in fact many fruits that carry iron, however, there is
a catch….They must be dried fruits. It’s a weird concept, but dried fruit is
still very much delicious. Here are some of the dried fruits you can eat, apples,
apricots, pairs, raisins, and figs. When it comes to vegetables it’s good to
eat asparagus, spinach, broccoli, olives, and parsley. These are just some of
the most common fruits and veggies that contain Iron, there are many more.
Meats: Oh, what
best way is there to obtain iron then by eating meats? They are loaded! And
they contain a lot of protein as well. It’s a like a two for one deal. And let
me inform you, that I’m not exclusively talking about red meat. Red meat of
course contains a lot of iron, but other meats, such as chicken, turkey salmon,
tuna, and clams also contain iron. So if you don’t like red meat, then you can
eat chicken.
Other Iron
Rich Foods: eggs yolks contain a lot of iron, of course is you have high cholesterol
they are a no go. But if you don’t, cook your eggs sunny side up. Another great
source of iron is beans, whether they are black beans, or refried. Lentils,
similar to beans contain plenty of iron. Perhaps it’s time to have lentil soup?
Okay
ladies, as you can see there are a lot of way is which iron can be obtained. It’s
all about eating right. And like I mentioned before women do tend to suffer
more from iron deficiency (anemia) do to the loss of blood. Therefore we must take extra care! I hope this
blog was instructive. Have a great and wonderful Friday.
