DIY Hair Jewelry

One of the hottest trends for the Fall season right now is hair jewelry and the best thing about this fabulous little hair trend is that you don't have to break the bank to fully indulge! Oh, but the goodness doesn't stop there! In fact, you get to express your creative side and personality even more with hair jewelry, especially if you create your own. So for my craft ladies and my not-that-crazy readers, it's time for you to hit up your local craft store, pick up some embellishments and get gluing!

It's the season full of bedazzled bobby pins, big embellishment clips and sparkling head bands. If it shimmers and shines, and can be clipped in your hair, call it trendy! So how do you make your own do-it-yourself hair accessories for this fall season, you ask?

First, you need some hair things (any kind of clips are the best) such as bobby pins and headbands. These are going to be your soon-to-be hair jewelry. Now you need gems, rhinestones, pendants and anything else you plan on adding to your hair jewelry pieces. Lastly, get a glue gun! Nope. Don't even try to use that school glue or glue stick... it won't work, and let's get serious here. Do you really want your homemade jewelry falling apart while you're out in public? Can you say tacky? Play it safe and invest in a glue gun! Plus, these things come in handy all the time! All of these items can be found at your local craft store or possible even a large department store such as Walmart, so take yourself on a quick shopping spree for these three and you'll be well on your way to being a DIY diva.

Once you have all of your items laid out in front of you, it's time for you to start planning. It's recommended that you plan where you want to put your items, before doing so permanently with the glue gun. At least this way if you don't like something, you can just move it. I suggest large pendants for the end of your bobby pins because the pin itself will disappear into your hair, leaving only the large pendant boasting from your locks. As for headbands and other clips, you can really have a lot of fun with these when it comes to gems and bedazzled stuff. However, make sure you keep it chic. Sure, that bedazzled headband your 5 year old niece made for you is super cute... as long as you only wear it inside the house... where no one can see you.

But rest be assured, if you strategically place your rhinestones and gems, you'll be looking like a model walking down Coco Chanel's runway show.! Hair jewelry and bejeweled goodness is far from tacky and "too much" this season! If it sparkles and shines, well, it should be in your hair! There's no need for you to break the bank to accomplish this fall hair trend!
