Makeup Bag Essentials!

Whether you’re a makeup novice or you have been experimenting with cosmetics for years, there are a few essentials that everyone should carry in their makeup bag. Think of them as the foundation of your makeup collection. As soon as you have a solid foundation, you can build your collection form there.

1.)    Foundation:
-A good foundation is important because it serves as the base of your makeup. It helps even out your skin tone and cover up any imperfections you may have. I suggest picking a liquid foundation if you want heavier coverage or a tinted moisturizer for light coverage. It’s all about experimenting and picking what suits you best!
2.)    Powder:
-It’s good to have a good pressed powder handy to help set your foundation and provide a little extra coverage.
3.)    Blush:
-While some may not think that blush is essential, I disagree. I think blush really livens up an otherwise plain makeup look. I recommend a cream blush for an easier application and more natural look.
4.)    Mascara:
-I never understood the purpose of mascara. It was so hard to perfectly apply and even harder to take off. However, as I got older and learned a thing or two, I realized that mascara is actually my best friend. It is amazing how different your eyes look with a coat of mascara. I guarantee that you’ll look more awake and your eyes will look bigger. It’s a miracle in a bottle.
5.)    Lip balm or conditioner:
-There is nothing sexier than smooth and supple lips. If you want some color on your lips, opt for a tinted lip conditioner.

Now, if you feel like you’re ready for a little more. The following items will help you amp up your look and give you a little more room to experiment.

*Eyeshadow Quad:
-There are dozens of eye shadow quads on the market. Whether you’re looking for something high-end or just something form the drugstore, you are sure to find a quad that you love. I recommend going for something neutral with a darker color so you can take it from day to night without much effort.

*Lipstick:
-While I would choose a lip balm over a lipstick, if you feel as if you need a little extra color on your lips, opt for something that is subtle enough that it doesn’t distract but pigmented enough that it gives your lips a little definition

*Eyeliner:
-Eyeliner really helps define your eyes and give them a bolder look. I suggest a medium brown for a little definition but if you’re feeling really daring, opt for a black liner.
