Don't sacrifice comfort this fall!

As much as I adore the cool fall weather and the fabulous fashion it brings along with it, I often find myself living in sweats and hoodies for days at a time. I am a sucker for comfort and hoodies provide me with a level of comfort that you have to experience to understand. Ok, maybe I am being a tad bit dramatic but, can you blame me? I love being warm and cozy and sometimes cardigans and leggings just don’t cut it. Now, I know I’m not alone in this. While it may be difficult to fight the urge to slip in to your super comfy PINK sweats and hoodie, you must resist! Do not get stuck in a fashion rut. You may never get out! Ok, being a little dramatic again, but serisouly, don’t do it! Here are a few tips to staying trendy and fashion forward without sacrificing comfort.

1.)    When it comes to pants, look for comfier materials and relaxed fits. It’s ok to ditch the uncomfortable denim and go with something a little more comfortable. I love jeggings and pixi pants for this time of year. They are stretchy and comfortable but they look super cute and sophisticated paired with a trendy sweater or cardigan.
2.)    The baggier the sweater, the comfier it is. Trust me. While I love fitted sweaters and shirts, loose and baggy sweaters and cardigans keep me super warm and comfy while looking super chic at the same time. Win, win for me!

3.)    In case you have not noticed, Ugg’s has been stepping up their fashion game. They have released some hot new boots and they are equally as comfy as their original boots. I can’t stand it when my feet are freezing. It’s the most uncomfortable thing ever. This is why I love my Ugg’s.
4.)    If you’re all about keeping warm, scarves will be your best friend this season. Not gonna lie, I sometimes pair a super hot scarf with some cute yoga pants and a oversized long sleeve for added comfort without looking frumpy. Don’t judge me.

See, I told you that you didn’t have to sacrifice comfort for fashionable. Just listen to me, I will never steer you wrong. Well, I mean I try.

Drench your warmth in Trench Coats

"Fashion is what you adopt when you don't know who you are"

So far we have been receiving a lot of sun (not that I’m complaining, I’m loving this weather!), during this fall season. However it is best that we are prepared for a change in climate…(it’s extremely unpredictable). One of the best things to own during the fall and during the winter season is a trench coat. There are tons of trench coats that are stylish and can keep you warm during the upcoming months. Here are a couple of coats you can choose to
buy.

Light trench coats
When people think of trench coats they usually think big heavy coats. But that is not always the case, in fact there are many trench coats that are not that warm and are very light. They are actually perfect for the kind of weather we have been having lately. These go really well with casual and semi-formal clothing.

Short Trench coats
Alright, there are many cute short trench coats that are comfortable for day to day wear. They look great with just plain jeans and tee shirts. If you think this is your type of trench coat I would suggest buying one that’s dark or neutral in colour, that way it will match a variety of your wardrobe.

Long Trench Coats
I love to think about long trench coats as elegant winter dresses. I find them to be super warm and cozy (can you tell they are my favorite type of trench coats?). You too can keep warm and style your outfit by putting on a long trench coat when going out to a fancy event or for a casual night out. You may be wondering what type of casual clothing can I wear? Well these types of coats can be worn with leggings/ jeans, heels, shirts, and cardigans.

And that’s that. Just remember to always keep warm, cozy and stylish during the cold months. There are different trends during every season; we just got to learn how to play around with our wardrobe to keep in stylish.

Do`s and Don`t of Fall Fashion

As with every season, there are dos and don’ts when it comes to fashion. Fall 2012 is no different. If New York Fashion Week was any inclination, fall fashion is going to be big and bold. Everything from fur to animal print is making a comeback, and in a big way. With all of the prominent pieces making their way back into our wardrobes, there are some obvious does and don’ts coming our way. Let’s go over them, shall we?
1.) DO dress up your cozy knits. J Crew’s presentation at Fashion Week introduced us to a new way to wear knit. Usually, when we think knit, we think balls of yarn, cozy sweaters and the elderly. Or maybe that’s just me? Oh, well. This season we can look forward to a more sophisticated class of knit clothing. Pairing up cozy knit sweaters with glam skirts and printed shirts are going to give your fall outfits a hint of sophistication.
2.) DON’T skip the statement collar. Bedazzled collars will be sure to make your outfit look polished. To save a bit of money, find a detachable collar online!
3.) DO fall back in love with the navy blue pea coat. Navy blue pea coats are going to be a staple in our wardrobes this season. Not only will they keep us warm, they will also make any outfit look more polished.
4.) DON’T save the spring colors for spring. Just because it’s fall, doesn’t mean you have to ditch the color for drab. Use bright pieces to add a pop to color to your outfit.
5.) DO mix sporty and ladylike. Baseball caps and tennis shoes were just a couple of the sporty statement made on the runway during fashion week. While we do not recommend dressing head to toe in athletic attire, we do suggest adding one sporty element to your outfit to give it a casual touch.
6.) DON”T be afraid to do a head to toe pattern. Head to toe patterns tend to intimidate most, however, don’t be afraid! Head to toe patterns will give you a unique look and it will be sure to help you stand out, in a good way. What are some trends you want to try?
