Do`s and Don`t of Fall Fashion

As with every season, there are dos and don’ts when it comes to fashion. Fall 2012 is no different. If New York Fashion Week was any inclination, fall fashion is going to be big and bold. Everything from fur to animal print is making a comeback, and in a big way. With all of the prominent pieces making their way back into our wardrobes, there are some obvious does and don’ts coming our way. Let’s go over them, shall we?
1.) DO dress up your cozy knits. J Crew’s presentation at Fashion Week introduced us to a new way to wear knit. Usually, when we think knit, we think balls of yarn, cozy sweaters and the elderly. Or maybe that’s just me? Oh, well. This season we can look forward to a more sophisticated class of knit clothing. Pairing up cozy knit sweaters with glam skirts and printed shirts are going to give your fall outfits a hint of sophistication.
2.) DON’T skip the statement collar. Bedazzled collars will be sure to make your outfit look polished. To save a bit of money, find a detachable collar online!
3.) DO fall back in love with the navy blue pea coat. Navy blue pea coats are going to be a staple in our wardrobes this season. Not only will they keep us warm, they will also make any outfit look more polished.
4.) DON’T save the spring colors for spring. Just because it’s fall, doesn’t mean you have to ditch the color for drab. Use bright pieces to add a pop to color to your outfit.
5.) DO mix sporty and ladylike. Baseball caps and tennis shoes were just a couple of the sporty statement made on the runway during fashion week. While we do not recommend dressing head to toe in athletic attire, we do suggest adding one sporty element to your outfit to give it a casual touch.
6.) DON”T be afraid to do a head to toe pattern. Head to toe patterns tend to intimidate most, however, don’t be afraid! Head to toe patterns will give you a unique look and it will be sure to help you stand out, in a good way. What are some trends you want to try?
