5 Of The Worst Things You Can Do For Your Hair

There are several things that are awful for your hair. You're probably a culprit to many of them, as the most common practices used to style hair fabulously are often the most dangerous to your strands. If your hair is severely struggling with a lack of hydration, you may want to consider the things that you're doing that will make it worse. The worst thing that you can do to dry, damaged hair is to continue to do harmful things to it. Here are the worst things that you can do to your hair, and probably do on a daily basis.

Heat Products
Things such as your blow dryer, hair irons and curling wands do extreme damage to your hair due to the intense heat. It essentially sizzles your strands with each stroke and can be the worst thing for your hair. Unfortunately, these are also the items that we use to style our hand into masterpieces. Try to retire the heat products when you can, and let your hair air dry when possible. If all else fails, always remember to use a heat protectant product before putting anything hot to your hair.

Excessive Sun
The sun can suck the life right out of your strands. No pun intended. It dries up all the natural hair oils and can leave your hair extremely dry and brittle. Try to wear a hat when you're out in the sun for long periods of time to deter your locks from looking and feeling like hay.

Excessive Washing
Washing your hair every day is something that many people do. However, by doing so, you are stripping your hair of the natural oils that actually keep hydration locked into your strands. Therefore, you're simply drying it out with each wash. You can still shower every day, but skip out on washing your hair every other day to ensure that you aren't doing damage to your hair when you're supposed to be treating it with a thoroughly cleaning.

Salt Water
With the rise in popularity of salt water, you may be swimming it in more often than you think. Of course, the ocean is salt water but now a days, several people are opting for salt water pools as well. The salt content is much less, but the damage is still prominent and will dry out your locks. Tie your hair up before taking a dip in the ocean or pool to ensure that you're not subjecting your hair to more damage.

Lack Of Haircuts
You need to cut off a couple inches on a regular basis to ensure that your hair is at its ultimate health. A common misconception with cutting your ends every couple weeks is that your hair won't grow longer than what it is. However, cutting off the dry, brittle, split ends will actually encourage growth.

These five things are often committed together which can leave you with extremely dry, unhealthy hair that is apparent throughout the look and feel of it. Keep your hair health close in mind to ensure that you're always looking and feeling your best.
